July 7th, 2009

Words to Live By was founded by Motivation & Creativity Coach Denise J. Hart, MFA. Denise, a 5 year breast cancer survivor, founded WTLB after her mother lost her life to the same breast cancer Denise had survived just one year earlier. Moved to create something that reflects her mother’s zest for life, and Denise’s deep belief in positive thinking, Words to Live By was born.

Among the many hats she wears, Denise is a tenured College Theatre Professor, a Life Coach specializing in Motivation, Creativity, and Success Strategies. She’s also an Actress (see her work on HBO’s drama THE WIRE), an award winning Playwright, Acting Coach, & Founder/Director of The Children’s Theatre Workshop, Inc. Through Words to Live By she provides coaching, workshops, and creates products that help women to live life with the kind of gusto that results in manifesting their dreams and lving the lives they truly desire..

Denise is the face behind the popular blog, Solutions from The Motivation Mama! where she blogs about positively real solutions, tips and insights to help women maintain their motivation no matter what’s going on! And the blog Tips for Business Blogging Success providing tips for the newbie business blogger.

She’s also the mother of one now-very-tall-17 year old son and she’s been a student of personal development for over 25 years. She’s trained at CoachVille, Alex Mandossian’s teleseminars, Group Mastery with Wendy Y. Bailey, & is a featured expert blogger at PeopleJam.com, Selfgrowth.com and a member of Teleseminar Nation.

Hart is a graduate of the Sarah Lawrence College MFA program and she acknowledges that the schools unofficial philosophy (the Sarah Lawrence Way!) has significantly shaped her “Anything is possible attitude!” For 14 years she’s lived this philosophy by changing the lives of young people through her performing arts camp, The Children’s Theatre Workshop, Inc. “Many of the parents say the positive impact the camp has on their child far exceeds any camp they’ve ever attended. “Well, my mission was simple, to create a place where courage and creativity would go hand in hand!” says Hart.

Volume I Story 3: Watch Out For Little Vacations…They Can Sprout A World Learning Center!…Marcia Jaffe, President and Founder of the Bali Institute for Global Renewal

May 8th, 2009

Founder and President of the Bali Institute, Marcia Jaffe, took a short holiday to Bali in October 2003 to recuperate from producing a 2,000-person conference in California. She was certain that there were no more conferences in her future as she was tired and ready for something new. Bali felt like a “calling”. While traveling in Ubud, she found herself in deep dialogue with numerous Balinese, and was drawn to their commitment to spirituality, balance and community life.

But it was the Balinese reaction to the terrorist attack on their beautiful island that was most astounding. The Balinese used their atrocity as an opportunity for deep inquiry into what their culture might have done to generate such bad karma, and what could they do to prevent this from happening again. Their answer has been to reclaim their culture, and to emphasize rituals and ceremonies in their community and with families and children. Bali was also in desperate need to have people come back to the island, since their economic structure had been based on tourism, and the entire island was economically suffering everywhere.

Before Marcia left Bali, she began to envision a conference that would bring people together to learn from the Balinese — their culture had much to teach the rest of the world, and people everywhere needed to support them in this time of challenge. Marcia teamed up with two other deeply committed and well-seasoned professionals, Wilford Welch and Carole Angermier, and the first Quest for Global Healing conference was held almost a year later with more than 425 people from 22 countries. The second Quest for Global Healing and the first Global Youth in Action pre-program was held in 2006 with more than 650 people from over 30 countries. Both programs focused on how people can make a difference in the world.

Global leaders attending have included three Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Betty Williams and Jody Williams, Apollo 14 Astronaut Edgar Mitchell (the 6th man to walk on the moon), the former president of Indonesia Abdurrahman Wahid, Bhutan’s Minister of Culture, Afghanistan’s Red Crescent Society President, and numerous others.

This gathering will be the first program as we launch the new Bali Institute for Global Renewal . Marcia’s new dream is to build a Balinese-designed world learning center based in Ubud. The facility will bring together world leaders and engage global citizens and activists from around the world on a regular basis for shared learning and training. Organizations, universities, think-tanks, learning institutes, consultants, trainers, and global citizens can become members of the Institute and offer or attend programs.

Volume 1-Story 1: See Your World through a Different Lens…Ankya Klay of Ankya Design

March 12th, 2009
Ankya Klay of Ankya Design

Ankya Klay of Ankya Design

Cycle 1. When I was young I loved going for long walks in Nature. That love affair has stayed with me always. It is my my way of connecting with spirit. I always return from these adventures renewed and inspired. For me, nature is all about touch and texture as well as sound, smell and sight. It speaks to all my senses.

Cycle 2. The Creative process makes my heart sing. I have much joy expressing myself in textiles and clay allowing the creative force to flow through me.

Cycle 3. This creative force lead me to study the art of natural health and for many years I worked as a Shiatsu practitioner. This made me aware of how touch helps heal the body and allow it to find its natural healing.

So no surprise I’ve arrived at another cycle in my life – life’s about growing and changing – so I share my experiences with you in this new way. Connected to nature, natural healing awareness and a love of the creative process – here are some Magic Moments from everyday life from my photography.

‘Spirit beings’ on an earth adventure, that’s what we are. When you know this it helps shine a different light on the events of your life. My wish is that your heart be touched by these ‘human landscapes’ (soulscapes) – let them speak to the child in you. Don’t children just know we’re all connected?

I’ve done much traveling both within and without. A gradual migration south. From Norway, the UK, Switzerland and France. Visits to Africa have enriched my life. I now live on the beautiful Northern Beaches of New South Wales in Australia.

Bridging worlds – the seen and the unseen, ancient wisdom and the magic of contemporary technology. What links us all is our connection to the earth, wherever we find ourselves on this beautiful planet. Loving the earth in you and in me is how we heal. For she is us and we are she. Whatever I do unto the earth I do unto me.

Just imagine you can ‘image your world now’? What world would you like that to be? Just open to what you will see, its all part of the mystery, of you and me…Lets choose to be Free! (http://imageyourworldnow.com)

Welcome to Vivacity’s The Voices of Women Project: An Audio Anthology (c)2008

October 24th, 2008

Vivacity’s The Voices of Women Project:  An Audio Anthology(c)2008 Is a collection of the stories of women in their forties, fifties and sixties and beyond who have transcended societal and cultural conditioning, as well as personal challenges, to create lives and enterprises that are successful and rewarding and that impact positively on the lives of others.

The Voices of Women Project is an audio anthology of these stories told by the women themselves and in collaboration with Kate Sanner, the Project’s creator and producer and CEO & Founder of Vivacity.

The vision of the Project is to provide:

  • inspiration and empowerment
  • role models
  • guidance

so that a woman in mid-life can:

  • find her voice
  • realize her dreams and potential
  • become aware of her own power and her impact on the world
  • and give herself permission to play as big as she wants to play

…all with the goal of increasing the status and the abundance of all women worldwide.

This audio anthology will be an ongoing series that will be broadcast on Vivacity Radio: Internet Talk Radio for Women and for listening on this webpage.  The first volume of these stories will also be available for sale in MP3 download form by Fall 2009.

The women who tell their stories differ in their spiritual beliefs, their socio-economic status, their educational backgrounds and their interests.  The common thread of their stories is the triumph of moving past personal challenges, obstacles and barriers, so that now…in mid-life…they are experiencing and enjoying lives and enterprises of their own creation.

The first stories are scheduled to air in Spring 2009 and will be the stories of Ankya Klay of Ankya Design (http://imageyourworldnow.com), Aurea McGarry of Live Your Legacy with Aurea McGarry (http://liveyourlegacytv.com/), Marcia Jaffe of the Bali Institute for Global Renewal (http://www.baliinstitute.org/), Dr. Linda Berry, Chiropractor and Nutritionist (http://drlindaberry.com/) and Vicki Hannah Lein of Step Into Your Greatness (http://stepintoyourgreatness.us).

I look forward to bringing you their stories.
